Artist Statement

"When I first began painting for my September exhibit, in the Members Gallery, I was determined to paint nothing larger than a 12x12" canvas with subjects ranging from florals to everyday items.  For the first couple of months I held to that size limit with most of the paintings falling at 5x7", 5x5", and 6x6".  I soon discovered that some images just had to be bigger!  In the end you will see a large variety of canvas sizes as well as a range of subjects.  The singular thing that ties the work together is the explosion of colors on the canvas.  Even in the less "colorful" you will find surprises in the shadows and reflections.  This work embodies 6 months of concentrated work in my studio at Libertytown Arts Workshop and I hope that you enjoy seeing it as much as I enjoyed creating it!"
