Fredericksburg Center for the Creative
Arts (FCCA) presents “Fragments” an All Media Juried Show
in the Frederick Gallery, 813 Sophia Street, Fredericksburg,
VA. The works of Ariel
Freeman will be on display in the FCCA Members’ Gallery. These shows open 2 March and
run through 29 March with a First Friday Opening Reception on 7
March from 6-8:30pm.
The exhibitions are free and open to the public daily from
12-4pm (except Tuesdays).

UMW Celebrates
Women's History Month Jessica Valenti will give the keynote
lecture on Wednesday, March 26 at 7 p.m. in Woodard Campus Center,
Great Hall. The program is a James Farmer Multicultural Center
Cultural Awareness Series event. Valenti is the founder and
executive editor of Feministing.com, a popular Web site blog that
provides a platform for womens issues. Author of Full Frontal
Feminism: A Young Womans Guide to Why Feminism Matters, Valentis
writing has appeared in Ms. and The Guardian magazines. She also
writes a blog for National Abortion Rights Action Leagues (NARAL)
Pro-Choice America and is a co-founder of the REAL Hot 100 campaign
that recognizes young women who are breaking barriers and making a
difference in the world. Valenti received a masters degree in womens
and gender studies from Rutgers University. The photo exhibit "La
Maschera Della Donna: Feminine Masks in the Carnivals of Piedmont,
Italy" by Piercarolo Grimaldi of the Università degli Studi de
Scienze and Davide Proporato of the Università del Piemonte
Orientale will be held Monday, March 10 through Sunday, March 30.
The Simpson Library is open Monday through Thursday 8 a.m. to
midnight, Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and
Sunday noon to midnight.

Marine Corps Marathon-First Event The first event
in the new MCM Event Series, the Butler Relay, is now open to the

The Magnolia Ball to Support
Hospice Hospice Support Care Inc. is a non-profit, volunteer
organization providing support services, at no cost, to terminally
ill patients and their families, and bereavement support after death
for both adults and children. The Magnolia Ball features a formal
dinner, dance and silent auction. Dance to the sounds of the
Fredericksburg Big Band while you support this fundraising effort by

Family Fun Run Park Ridge Elementary PTO is proud
to announce our Family Fun 5K and 1 Mile Run/Walk. This event is
designed to promote the benefits of physical fitness and the value
of a healthy lifestyle with regular exercise, to help teach about
the importance of setting goals and the fulfillment of achieving
them and to raise needed money for the school. The 5K (3.1 miles), a
USATF certified course, will start at 7:30 a.m., and the 1 Mile at
Fun/Run at 9:00 a.m., each followed by refreshments, prizes and

Relay
for Life Team Used Book/Video Sale A
Relay for Life Team will have a table at the Spotsylvania Town
Center from 12 noon to 3 p.m. where we will be selling used books
and videos for suggested donations. All proceeds will go to the
American Cancer Society. (Any donated books and/or videos will be
greatly appreciated. Children's books and video's as well as classic

18th Annual Mother's Day Rod Run The
Fredericksburg Street Rods present the 18th Annual Mother's Day Rod
Run at Walker Grant Middle School located on Route 1 next to Purvis
Ford in Fredericksburg, VA. The show runs from 9 AM to 3 PM. A
portion of the proceeds will benefit the Walker Grant Middle
School's Special Education Program. Pre-register before May 1st for
a chance to win one of six $50 cash prizes. Dash plaques and goodie
bags to the first 200, door prizes, adult games, long distance, hard
luck and club participation awards. Top 25 and specialty trophies
