Juror: Hubert Jackson was born in
Culpeper, Virginia in 1943. He received a Bachelor’s degree in fine
arts education from Virginia State University in 1965. After moving
to the Washington, DC area in 1965 he began a teaching career which
spanned thirty-four years. He received a Master of Fine Arts degree
from Howard University in 1971, and did further studies at the Corcoran
School of Art. Jackson served on the selection committee for the
District of Columbia Artists in Schools program sponsored by the DC
Commission of The Arts and Humanities from 1977 to 1979. He served
as a curriculum writer for the DC Public Schools. His paintings have
been selected for inclusion in the Art in Embassies Program of the U.S.
State Department. After retiring from the Washington, DC Public
School System in 1999, where he taught art and photography at Woodrow
Wilson High School, Jackson moved to Colonial Beach, Virginia, where he
maintains his studio. |
