Juror's Statement  &  Awards

Marti Deppa Kirkpatrick has 20 years of experience working with artists and the public presenting all manner of art exhibitions. From the early 1990’s and into 2001 she served in the volunteer positions of Treasurer, Show Chair and finally President of the League of Reston Artists in Reston, Virginia. 

She was a member of the initial Visual Arts Advisory Panel for the Lorton Arts Foundation’s transformation of the old DC Correctional Facility at Lorton, Virginia into the Workhouse Arts Center.  Ms. Kirkpatrick then came on staff February 2007 as Studio Manager, facilitating the rental of studios through the jury process as well as laying the groundwork for the Workhouse Artists Association. She is currently the Exhibition Coordinator at the Workhouse, handling all aspects of exhibitions in the main gallery building, Gallery W16, including acting as curator/juror for a number of Workhouse exhibits and community outreach high school art competitions. 

Ms. Kirkpatrick is also a visual artist in her own right, painting in her home studio in Dickerson, Maryland. Working in both oil, and mixed media her abstracts and nudes have won numerous awards and have been shown extensively in the Washington DC metro area.
