Four new art shows to put on your must-see list this month:  This article "You Gotta Have Art" is from the April 8, 2010 Weekender section of the Free Lance Star.  There is a section on the exhibits of Cathyann Burgess and Shirley Whelan in the Members' Gallery of FCCA with an image of a painting by each artist.  Other FCCA members with images of their art work at other locations are Barbara Taylor Hall, Pat Thalman, and Kathleen Willingham.

Shirley’s oil painting “Pope’s Creek Plantation” is of George Washington’s birthplaces in the fall.  Ano the r local landscape painting to be exhibited is “View of Belmont Bay”, an autumn scene from Mason Neck State Park in Virginia .  She will also be exhibiting small paintings of boats from the New England area.  Shirley has a fine arts degree from the University of Maryland .  She has exhibited in juried art shows at the Fredericksburg Center for Creative Arts, Liberty Town Arts Workshop, Uniquely Fredericksburg and in Richmond , VA at Crossroads Art Center and Art Works.
