For the Members’ Gallery February show, Lynn Mehta displays her recent oil paintings of regional landscapes. All of her oils shown are painted outside (en plein air), or painted in the studio using outdoor oil sketches as a reference. This exhibit is comprised of rich, colorful oil paintings of rivers, marshes, and fields. The paintings evoke a journey: enticing us into the beauty of the outdoors. Lynn believes that in taking in the outside, we go inside of ourselves. Or, in the words of naturalist, John Muir, “I only went out for a walk and finally concluded to stay out till sundown, for going out, I found, was really going in.”
