CURATOR’S CORNER  8/12/2010

The Frederick Gallery continues to draw exciting new entries to our juried exhibits. I look forward to each Entries Deadline with anticipation and hope that the FCCA will continue to broaden its reach and receive applications from new as well as returning artists.

Our jurors have often expressed their pleasure with the experience of visiting our gallery and with being able to contribute to our success by selecting the work for our exhibitions. Each juror has brought his/her unique perspective to the selection process and provided an exhibit that reflects a particular aesthetic viewpoint. I trust that each artist entering our juried exhibits will benefit from the challenge of attracting a juror's attention.

I want to thank all the artists who have contributed to FCCA by entering our juried exhibits and providing our gallery with the financial support that is needed to continue fulfilling our mission of exhibiting the work of regional and national artists. During difficult economic times, the arts frequently are vulnerable, but we are fortunate to have the support of many patrons, members and artists. In addition, each exhibit is supported by teams of volunteers who bring their time and talent to unpacking artwork, disassembling exhibits, hanging artwork, and providing opening receptions. Special thanks to new volunteers Luke Michaels, Lee Cochrane, Darlene Wilkinson, and Carol Brochert for joining our teams.
